Beechford B11 - Historical Chart
Year: circa 1859
Print Size: 59cm x 65cm
Beechford is a small seaside town on the northern coast of Tasmania. This chart by Richard Hall (October 1859) shows plans for a proposed subdivision of land across Curries River from the actual township of Beechford to the south. Now part of the Five Mile Bluff Conservation Area, it seems that plans to subdivide were later abandoned. The "harbour for boats" may have been rather challenging for early settlers, who could only enter the river at high tide after negotiating the "flat ironstone rocks".
