Sprents Book 41 - Historical Chart
Year: circa 1843
Print Size: 62cm x 51cm
Bounded by Murray, Davey, Harrington and Liverpool Streets, this plan affords us the opportunity of seeing what was in the greater CBD district of Hobart, circa 1843. The plan depicts the parcels of land granted up to 1841, with the positions of buildings being shown. As James Sprent was the Surveyor General of the time, there is 'an assumption' that the graphic references to prominent buildings could be fairly indicative of their true position. The current site of the Lands Building (and Service Tasmania shop) can be seen in Section A on the plan, where the grant to William Gore Elliston originally was in 1858.
Reproductions are inkjet printed on high quality paper using colour-fast UV tolerant inks. These plans and charts are suitable for laminating or framing.
