The Story Map provides a captivating insight into Tasmania's early colonial history. This fascinating selection represents part of a prized collection of historically significant plans and charts that have been preserved, scanned and catalogued. While the level of detail varies, many of the 200 year old plans and charts show the position of original residences and government buildings, vegetation, streets and waterways, names of property owners and occupants, sometimes even construction materials.

These historical documents have been used as a point of reference by generations of government employees, on a regular basis over many years, providing context for the evolution of land use and development in Tasmania.

The high quality scans are available for sale and are ideal for framing or laminating.

The App was built with the esri Story Map Tour builder. It has aided in the education of people to the existence of the historical information, and made the information easily accessible and available to everyone rather than being stored away in the archive where no one knows about it.
